Passion
I believe therapy is a place to laugh and cry, celebrate and mourn, process difficult emotions or memories, and ultimately grow and heal. I am passionate about building relationships founded on trust, compassion, respect, and unconditional positive regard. I have a heart for helping people heal from all kinds of struggles using holistic tools including mind, body, and spirit practices. Everyone’s life experience is unique; therefore, I utilize a collaborative approach to create a personalized treatment plan to meet each individual’s goals.
Approach
My approach is to create a positive therapeutic relationship to help clients stay grounded as they explore unknown or challenging emotional territory. I enter each session with curiosity and compassion, and when challenges arise, I stay calm and emotionally present, making it safe for clients to navigate their unique healing journey. My approach combines mindfulness and acceptance-based skills, as well as emotion and solution-focused strategies to increase insight and create change. I believe in addressing how trauma can get stored in the body’s nervous system leading to many struggles such as depression, anxiety, relationship challenges, and PTSD.
Training
My experience working at Kaiser as an adult outpatient mental health therapist provided me with a strong working knowledge of diagnosing and utilizing evidence-based treatments such as CBT, DBT, and ACT. I also have experience leading DBT and STAIR trauma groups, and working with military veterans (I’m also a vet). I am a Certified Trauma Professional, trained in Prolonged Exposure, EMDR, and the complexities of domestic violence.
